Topic: "Communicating Vendor Negotiation Strategy to Senior Management"

Procurement Professionals often struggle in gaining the buy-in and support of key decision makers when advocating their organization follow proven procurement methodology.  As a result, we can lose control of the sourcing process and be placed in the position of administrators with little more value than pumping out PO’s when we are really striving to be viewed as a strategic partner helping our Executives plan and execute their sourcing initiatives. Worse yet, the organizations’ deals are more likely to be suboptimal.

Gaining alignment with decision makers at the beginning of a sourcing strategy and throughout the negotiation process are key to driving to a successful deal.  In this program, Don will reinforce the importance of viewing a sourcing initiative as a process oriented activity and provide attendees with a practical approach to developing, documenting and communicating both a sourcing strategy and a negotiation strategy.  Attendees will bolster their tool set of strategic sourcing methods and leave with practical job aids that can be used to gain the alignment of their decision makers throughout the strategic sourcing process ultimately leading to better deals.
